In close collaboration with the Export Organisation Südtirol EOS, our architecture practice developed a concept that turns the Genussfestival Südtirol 2013 in the picturesque centre of Bozen into an unforgettable experience. Our focus was on designing pavilions that present South Tyrol's quality products such as apples, speck, bread, wine and milk in a creative and engaging way.
The festival’s guiding theme was “bringing nature into the town”, with the aim of engaging all five senses of the visitors and highlighting South Tyrol as a culinary destination. Improved communication with visitors and an upgrade of the festival’s food trail made the event even more attractive than in 2011.
The architectural concept was deliberately kept restrained in order to direct attention to the quality products. The presentation pavilions serve merely as a frame for the products and are meant to foreground their quality and origin. Care was taken to keep the festival compact and easy to navigate, so that visitors can experience the variety and quality of the regional products directly.
During the festival, visitors can get to know traditional South Tyrolean quality products and enjoy delicious dishes in a varied supporting programme featuring renowned Michelin-starred and top chefs. From wine and apples to speck and bread, high-quality products are presented that reflect the rich culture and tradition of South Tyrol.
