The “Vision Mils bei Imst” develops a spatial and strategic picture of the municipality’s future. It is based on interviews with stakeholders, discussions with the municipality, the analysis of maps and data, as well as mapping and site walks.
The aim is to strengthen Mils bei Imst in the long term as an attractive place to live, spend time and visit. The focus is not only on infrastructural and economic measures, but also on the design-led development of public space and the careful organisation of future building changes.
Particular attention is paid to the village centre around the Kirchbühel. By improving existing facilities, adding new compatible uses and coordinating a well-tuned place marketing, a positive spatial and architectural development can be set in motion here. The village centre is to be strengthened as the lively heart of the municipality and its identity developed further.
From a design perspective, the task is to create and upgrade public functions, to provide high-quality places to linger, and to furnish and activate public space in a clear way. Key places within the village are to be reorganised, made more legible and activated as connecting elements in the village fabric.
Another essential component of the Vision is the reorganisation of access and parking. The currently scattered parking provision is to be made clearer and more functional through an improved wayfinding system, clear allocations and targeted redesigns. This can reduce traffic movements, improve orientation and relieve public spaces.
The “Vision Mils bei Imst” sees itself as a strategic instrument for high-quality municipal development. It brings together analysis, care for the village’s character, infrastructure, mobility and public space in a shared development framework – with the aim of strengthening existing qualities and making new potential for the future visible.
