Guiding concept, citizen participation
Traube-Vill-–-Programm-2017

Finding a guiding concept for the district of Vill – with this aim, the citizen participation process was launched this year. Now the first results of the joint work are emerging. That the decision to start the process was the right one is demonstrated not least by the lively participation in the Vill Future Conference at the end of September.

01

As mayor, the active involvement of citizens is a matter close to my heart. Experience so far has shown that residents, too, are experts when it comes to how a district should be developed for the better. In the end, everyone benefits.

02

The process in Vill is a showcase example: numerous ideas and proposals were gathered, development potential was identified and, above all, people worked together. At this point I would like to thank, on the one hand, all the residents of Vill who are actively taking part in the development process and, on the other, the organisers. Only together can the goal be achieved!

Christine Oppitz-Plörer
Mayor

Since mid-March of this year
the practice has been working together with the citizens of Vill on a guiding concept for the district. In close coordination, citizens, politicians and process facilitators are working on creating a vision for Vill. The aim of the project is to find a strategy for the future spatial, socio-cultural, economic and ecological development of the place.

05

The guiding concept contains clear objectives, a timetable and a catalogue of measures for the development of Vill. It is being drawn up on several levels with the involvement of everyone interested. As the coordination team, Lanz + Mutschlechner are responsible for moderation and communication between the political representatives, the local working groups, the stakeholders and the citizens.

06

The district council of Vill has already done a great deal of preparatory work on the future development of the place. In a first meeting with the subcommittee, the structure of the existing guiding concept was sharpened and four thematic areas emerged from the existing analyses. These became the focus of four workshops in working groups. The central questions were: What are the district’s potentials? Where do its strengths and weaknesses, risks and opportunities lie? Which topics have been addressed so far? What matters to us? What visions are there? Which networks should be formed? Which topics for the future are to be defined?

07

In parallel with the first workshops with the district council of Vill, five experts were interviewed on topics important to Vill.

The village lies south of Innsbruck’s centre, on the slope of a mid-mountain terrace at the foot of the Patscherkofel, at around 820 m above sea level. In Vill, the Viller Bach joins the five-kilometre-long Ramsbach coming from Igls and then flows down to the Sill in the Sill gorge. Vill still presents a village-like appearance today, with a number of farmsteads. The district and locality also include Grillhof and Poltenhütte north-east of the village on the Lanser Kopf, Handlhof and Zenzenhof to the south on the Sill below Igls, as well as the municipal areas around the Ahrnwald up to Innsbruck’s southern boundary at the Unterberg-Stefansbrücke stop on the Brenner railway.
