Furnishing a Small Flat
Refurbishing a small flat so that it feels spacious and precious calls for a good deal of architectural ingenuity. Before the conversion, a long, narrow corridor divided the flat into a south-facing wing with a large living room and a north-facing wing with three adjoining rooms. The three rooms to the north consisted of two bedrooms with the kitchen between them. At the end of the corridor, facing east, was the bathroom with a day WC. The arrangement of the kitchen to the north, the dining area situated in the living room and the small bathroom mixed the uses together and left no quiet places of retreat within the flat. In addition, the small city flat had hardly any storage space.
