Stadt:Labor – Architekten: creative architectural solutions in the Alps

Stadt:Labor – Architekten is an award-winning architecture practice based in Innsbruck, Tyrol1. The practice was founded in 2004 by Barbara Lanz and Martin Mutschlechner and has since realised numerous projects throughout the Alpine region. The projects span a range of fields, including farmhouse refurbishment, commercial conversions, hotels, tourism, public spaces, interior design, neighbourhood development and housing.

The practice takes a holistic approach that considers the needs of the clients, the requirements of the site, the possibilities of the materials and the challenges of the future. In doing so, it places great importance on sustainability, aesthetics, functionality and innovation. The architects at Stadt:Labor believe that good architecture should minimise its impact on the environment and maximise its benefit for people1. That is why they use considered design techniques, efficient construction methods, sustainable, local and natural materials, and develop scenarios for the future adaptability of their buildings.
