Historic shell, modern interior

How do you preserve 200 years of history – and at the same time design for the next 100?
This question accompanies us in every project that moves in the field of tension between existing fabric and future.
At Stadt:Labor – Architekten, we see historic buildings as valuable witnesses of their time. Their patina, their craftsmanship and the traces of past generations are part of their identity. But this identity must not lead to standstill – it should live, develop further and respond to new uses.
Our aim is to respect what exists while creating spaces that meet today’s requirements: open, bright, functional and energy-efficient. To do so, we rely on natural materials, precise craftsmanship and a timeless formal language that fits into the historic context – without imitating it.
The result is houses that tell stories – and write new ones at the same time.
Old building and present enter into a dialogue that connects authenticity, sustainability and future.
