Start of construction at the Hof Dabernig in Alkus, East Tyrol – November 2022

In November 2022 – despite early snowfall – the refurbishment of the Hof Dabernig in Alkus, East Tyrol, began. The farmstead is one of the grandly appointed farmsteads of the Lienz district, formerly owned by the Brixen Seminary. The inscription in the parlour is dated 1873.
Striking features of the Hof Dabernig are its historicist interiors: uniform door and window elements, decoratively designed tiled stoves, wall panelling with historicist and neoclassical ornament. The façade design follows the typical late-19th-century language preserved at several prominent farmsteads in East Tyrol.
The refurbishment concept combines two functions: firstly, the farmstead serves as a contemporary form of living for the owners; secondly, as a holiday farm with riding stables and livestock. To this end we are building on the farmstead in a simple, authentic manner – without any imposed “modernism” gesture, but in a form that respects its substance. The start of construction in November 2022 marks the beginning of a construction phase lasting several years.
